    Don't get exhausted! Be wiser!

Exhaustive testing is impossible! We all know or should know that...

However, we continue to hear from testers that they are doing (or trying to do) exhaustive testing! Why?

So what is wrong, and what can be done to be wiser and test smarter, not harder?

Are you aware of techniques like pairwise testing and data-driven testing or the Pareto principle?

Most probably, yes, you heard about them. But are you using them? Most probably not!

In this talk, we are going to explore these techniques and how you could use them with tools and practical examples to test smarter.

Earned Value Management (EVM) for Test Management

Earned value management (EVM) is a powerful project management method that is implemented in engineering and construction projects.

I'll show you how to use this method in test management.

This talk is the continuation of "Why I Don't Like Pies".

Why I Don’t Like Pies! (How to improve your test reports)

Are you sending out test reports that no one reads?

Are you sending them without any added value just because someone told you that you need to?

Do you believe that if you had better tools and more time, you would be able to provide more valuable reports?

Are you still using pie charts?

If you want to know why I don't like pies or how to improve your test reports, join my talk.

AI for Testers: the future today

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an emerging field, jumping from the imaginary of Hollywood movies into the reality of our daily activities.

Without exception, as AI becomes omnipresent, it will also impact the Software Testing with 3 main developments:

    • AI systems to aid on software testing;
    • Software testing of AI systems;
    • Self-testing AI systems.

While testing of AI systems requires testers with AI expertise and self-testing AI systems will target not to require testers at all, the rest of us, testers, should benefit of the availability and use of AI systems designed to aid on the software testing.

Join this talk to review the actual state of the art on the AI based testing tools that are openly available today!

IoT? What does it means for Testers?

Gartner, Inc. forecasts that 8.4 billion connected things were in use worldwide in 2017, up 31 percent from 2016, and will reach 20.4 billion by 2020. Total spending on endpoints and services was estimated to reach almost $2 trillion in 2017.

So IoT could be the next big thing on software development and testing of all time.

But what is IoT all about? And IIoT? Industry 4.0?

What do you need to know about it?

And even more important what does it means for Testers?

Join this talk to discuss what you should be prepared for, what new competencies and tools you will need to learn, what will change (or not) in your role as an IoT Tester.

    API Test Automation

In our days, it’s almost impossible to find a modern application that doesn’t provide or consumes an API in the form of a web service. With SOA or microservices, between layers or between server and client, internal or external services, SOAP or REST, IoT or web apps, no matter what, web service APIs are everywhere.

Designed to allow a programmatic interaction between systems, APIs also need to be tested, and they are one of the first and natural candidates for test automation.

In this workshop, we will go through 3 different tools to demonstrate how to do API Test Automation applying also different testing techniques (like Data-Driven Testing, Keyword-Driven Testing or Behaviour-Driven Testing).

    Mobile testing (field testing experience)

Are you a tester? Then you know the famous "it works on my machine".
But if you are a mobile tester, then you probably already heard that "it works on the emulator"!
However, even when it works on your test lab devices or on your phone, does it works in the wild?

Field testing is critical for the validation of any mobile application when it comes to connectivity, location or even devices and platforms. So, how to do it then? The most common solution is crowd-testing... But what to do if it passes on the crowd tests but it fails for your end users? Then the fun begins. You will need to go out and do the field testing yourself!

Join this talk to share the lessons learned from a real field testing experience in a different country and with geographically distributed teams!
